MICHAEL'S FUND . . . financing innovative programs to support people with cancer
What Is Michael’s Fund? Michael’s Fund was
created in 2005 in memory of Michael Goldfinger who died of cancer in
1997. His experience during the eight months he lived with cancer
highlighted how much more than medical care is essential for cancer
patients and those who care for and about them. When your life is
touched by cancer, there are concerns that go far beyond just the
medical treatment. There are enormous emotional, social,
practical, legal and financial stresses. Michael’s Fund is
working with Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice (CVHHH) to
create, develop and finance new services to meet the needs of central
Vermonters who are living with cancer.
Michael’s Fund underwrote a pilot arts-in-medicine program in
2005 for
patients receiving chemotherapy in central Vermont. That program
is now being supported on an onging basis by Mountain View
Medical.
Michael's Fund now funds at-home services to assist people who have
cancer with home-making, cooking,
shopping, transportation and companionship. Central Vermont Home
Health & Hospice works closely with Micheal's Fund to offer these
services. But this is just the beginning.
To provide a full range of services for central Vermonter with
cancer and their
families, we will need to raise a lot more money!
YOU CAN HELP! Every
dollar counts!! If you would like to contribute, please write a
check today to CVHHH and write “Michael’s Fund” on the memo line. For
contributions of $250 or more, please make your check out to Vermont
Community Foundation and write “Michael’s Fund” on the memo line.
